IFMBE ElectionsThe World Congress on Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics, held by IFMBE, IOMP and IUPESM every three years, is in many respects one of the most outstanding events for the biomedical engineering and medical physics community. In addition to an excellent scientific program it provides an opportunity for the three organizations to inform their members about their activities of the last three years and hold the elections for their new officers and Administrative Council members. In this issue of the IFMBE News we will present the IFMBE officers and Administrative Council members elected at the General Assembly in Sydney on August 27, 2003. The next issues will introduce the new IUPESM officers and AC members as well as the newly elected members of the IFMBE Division for Health Technology Assessment and the Clinical Engineering Division. During the General Assembly, Prof. Joachim Nagel, who had been elected at the Chicago World Congress 2000 to the position of Vice President and President Elect, took over the presidency of IFMBE from Prof. Dov Jaron who has been serving in this position during the period from 2000 - 2003 and who, according to the statutes, automatically became Past - President.
