The most important facts on EMBEC'99

  1. The EMBEC'99 will be the greatest event in Biomedical Engineering in 1999 worldwide with nearly 950 papers (about 600 oral presentation, 350 poster presentation).
  2. Papers have been submitted by authors from 55 countries.
  3. The papers have been reviewed by more than 100 international experts with more than 90% of the papers seen by two reviwers.
  4. Highlights are:
    • the presentation of Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. R. R. ERNST on 'From NMR to MRI'
    • 12 plenary lectures from outstanding experts on the most challenging topics in BME.
    • 14 special sessions dealing with subjects of highest relevance for BME in the next millennium.
    • 7 tutorials providing education and training in important BME subdisciplines.
    • workshops and seminars on 'hot' topics like TEMPERE and the EU Medical Device Directive.
  5. Nobody with active interest in BME and its further development in the next millennium should miss this conference. The EMBEC'99 in Vienna will reveal the challenge of BME and its contribution to the advancement of medicine and healthcare.
