Alexandre Visintainer PinoAlexandre Visintainer Pino received the B.E.E. degree from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1992, and the M.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1996. Currently, he is pursuing the D.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering at the same University. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering of Catholic University of Pelotas (UCPel), Pelotas, Brazil, in 1995. He is currently an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and a researcher with the Biomedical Engineering Group at UCPel. His research interests have involved biomedical signal processing and instrumentation. His present research interests are in the respiratory system, ventilator induced lung injury, mechanical ventilation and automatic ventilation control.
