2002 Activity Report

During 2002, the Belgian Society for Medical And Biological Engineering and Computing and the National Committee for Biomedical Engineering performed the following activities:

Meeting at the Royal Academy on February 7th 2002.
Three day PhD course on "Biomedical signal processing" organised together with KUL, RUG and ULB.
Meeting of the National Committee at the Royal Academy on April 18th 2002
Meeting of the National Committee at the Royal Academy on September 19h 2002, single topic: National Day program committee
Organisation of two symposia on "Bio-informatica" (3 October, VUB) and "Medische instrumentatie en patientveiligheid" (5 December, KU Leuven) in collaboration with TI-Kviv Genootschap Biomedische Techniek en Gezondheidszorg.
National Day on Biomedical Engineering at the Royal Academy on October 18th 2002 (105 participants).

The database of the Society was updated. A website with information on biomedical engineering, the National Committee and BSMBEC was kept on-line and updated: http://www.biomengineering.org

International relations were kept with IUPESM and IFMBE at a global level.
Contacts with ESEM were maintained at a European level.
