EMBEC '99The first joint conference of European IFMBE members will take place in Vienna on 4-8 November, 1999. The title of the conference is: Advancement of Medicine and Health Care through Technology - the Challenge to Biomedical Engineering in Europe. Topics will include educational and professional aspects, clinical engineering, standards and medical device regulations, technology assessment, intelligent instrumentation, advanced technology for medicine and health care, technology-based new approaches in medicine and health care, recent challenges by medicine and biology, cellular and molecular bioengineering, system analysis and modelling, signal processing and medical informatics. EMBEC'99 will bring together the biomedical engineering community from the whole of Europe, in addition to colleagues from other continents. The programme encompasses main lectures, scientific contributions and posters, scientific and industrial exhibitions, and, last but not least, social events.
