Activities Report 2001, Planning 2002

During the year 2001, the Belgian Society BSMBEC and the National Committee for Biomedical Engineering had following activities:

  • Meeting at the Royal Academy on March 8th 2001
  • Three day course on "Computational Biomechanics" organised together with the National Comittee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics
  • Meeting of the National Committee at the Royal Academy on June 5th 2001
  • Meeting of the National Committee at the Royal Academy on September 20th 2001
  • Organisation of 2 symposia on "Betere chirurgie dankzij robotica en navigatiesystemen" (9 November KULeuven) en "Tissue engineering: state of the art" (4th December Universiteit Gent) in collaboration with TI-Kviv Genootschap Biomedische Techniek en Gezondheidszorg.
  • National Day on Biomedical Engineering at the Royal Academy on October 19th 2001.
  • A database was updated, on interested contact persons
  • A website concerning Biomedical Engineering, the National Committee and BSMBEC was established
  • International relations were kept with IUPESM and IFMBE on the world-level
  • Contacts with ESEM were upheld on the european level

In 2002, following activities are planned:

  • Cycle "New Trends in Medical Technology" with "PACS: medical image networks in hospital environments, to be held on Mach 26th 2002 at 19.00h in Ghent
  • Evening symposium on "Bioinformatics" on Thursday October 3rd 2002 in Brussels
  • Second National Day on Biomedical Engineering, in the Royal Academy, Brussels on Friday October 18th 2002
  • Three day course on medical signal- and image analysis and processing during the fall of 2002
