3rd International Conference on Bioelectromagnetism
1st Slovenian-Croatian Meeting on Biomedical Engineering

Bled, Slovenia, 8-12 October 2000

Many biological processes within the living organism, from cellular up to the organism level, are based on bioelectric and biomagnetic phenomena. These phenomena are still not completely understood and are the subjects of many scientific studies. The purpose of this conference is to reflect the present state of this research. The preliminary topics to be covered by the conference include but are not restricted to:

  • fundamental mechanisms
  • theory and models
  • measurement and dosimetry
  • technology and devices
  • functional electrical stimulation (FES)
  • electroporation
  • soft tissue and bone healing
  • clinical engineering
  • health risk effect
  • new techniques in MRI

All contributions submitted for presentation at the 3rd ICBEM and 1st Slo-CroMBE will be reviewed by the international scientific committee. All papers (extended abstracts) accepted for presentation will be published in the Proceedings of the 3rd ICBEM, which will be available at the conference. The Proceedings will be also published in a supplement issue of the International Journal of Bioelectromagnetism (IJBEM), a peer-reviewed journal published by the International Society for Bioelectro-magnetism (ISBEM). This is a scientific journal dedicated to publication of papers related to bioelectromagnetism. It is an online electronic journal accessible free of charge at http://www.tut.fi/ijbem

A selection of the best and the most relevant presentations at the 3rd ICBEM and 1st SloCroMBE will be also published in a special issue of the IJBEM. Authors of these presentations will be asked after the conference to prepare full-length papers of their work.

  • Deadline for abstract submission: 1 May 2000
  • Notification of scientific acceptance: after 1 June 2000
  • Deadline for early registration (reduced fees!): 1 July 2000
