Biomedical Engineering Society of Thailand is officially founded

On June 12th 2003, a group of Thai biomedical engineers (comprising mostly of lecturers and researchers) gathered together in a meeting that seems to be a mile-stone in the development of Biomedical Engineering in Thailand. The principal aim was to draft a national plan for the development of Biomedical Engineering to be proposed to the Thai Government and also to officially launch a Biomedical Engineering Society of Thailand (Thai BMES). One of the main objectives includes the promotion of Biomedical Engineering research and education, as well as academic cooperation among universities in Thailand and abroad. The Thai BMES will play an important role in overseeing the national plan for the development of Biomedical Engineering in Thailand. The Society will also promote the Biomedical Engineering activities which include organising an annual National Biomedical Engineering Conference and launching a Thai Biomedical Engineering Journal.
