ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The JSMBE has carried out the Certification Examination for Biomedical Engineering (Class 1, and Class 2) annually.
The number of persons passing the Examination in 2001 was 69 of 235 for Class 1, and 874 of 3254 persons for Class 2
respectively, this includes the students of the nationally licensed Clinical Engineer Training School.

"Medical Engineering Technology Industry Strategy (METIS) Consortium" was established in March 2001 and consists
of governmental, academic and industrial sectors to promote the medical engineering industry in Japan. Professor
Kikuchi is chairing the strategy planning committee.
