Invitation to contribute to MELETI database

Editor’s note: This request was addressed to me personally but after contacting Marc Nyssen the invitation is extended to all interested.

The MELETI Project (in the context of the Leonardo Framework), aims at building a database containing references to information sources (courses, books, journals, newsletters, ...) in the broad field of biomedical engineering.

It is obvious that a project like MELETI can only be as good as the information it contains. A mechanism for information sharing has been devised. This is where your contribution can be invaluable. We kindly request you to assist in the provision of information concerning education and training in biomedical engineering and its subspecialities (clinical engineering, bioengineering, medical informatics, rehabilitation engineering etc.).

Your contribution can reflect activities in which your organisation participates, other initiatives existing in your country and generally any information you may be aware of.

In return, you and interested parties worldwide, will have access to all contributions.

To contribute to the database, you can either visit the MELETI website and fill in the electronic forms prepared for this purpose or provide information requested at the end of this message and send them back by email: frederik@minf.vub.ac.be

On the MELETI website (http://www.inbit.gr/meleti), a personal account has been opened for you with:

login name: niilo.saranummi

password: nsfin3

When you contact the site, enter the ‘education’ subsection. There, you can click on ‘enter as a member’, with this login name and associated password. You can then fill in the information, pertinent to your institution, by hitting the link in ‘Click here to add a new record’.

The whole process might just take a few minutes (provided you have the info at hand) and can probably be performed by a simple ‘cut-and-paste’ operation from existing material.

Hoping that this correspondence will initiate a fruitful exchange of information which will lead to the development of a tool of mutual interest, I remain

Yours sincerely

Marc Nysse
