The Korean Society of Medical and Biological Engineering (KOSOMBE)

Annual Report 2004

The Korean Society of Medical and Biological Engineering (KOSOMBE) hosts two conferences, spring and fall, every year, and the number of attendants has been growing. Every spring conference includes a joint symposium with the Japanese Society of Medical and Biological Engineering, and the 2004 year's title was 'Gerontological Engineering'. KOSOMBE also supported conferences in the area, such as the First Asia-Pacific Biomechanics Conference held at Osaka University, Japan, on March 25-28, 2004. KOSOMBE has been working on preparing for two international conferences co-hosted by IFMBE:

1. The 7th International Conference on Cellular Engineering (September 6 - 9, 2005, Seoul, supported by the municipal government of Seoul), and
2. World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering (August 27 – September 1, 2006, Seoul).

The Journal of Biomedical Engineering Research (the official journal of KOSOMBE) will be published only in English, effective from January 2005, whereas papers either in Korean or in English are being accepted.
