The Biomedical Signal Processing Group (GPSBio) of the Departmental Area of Electronic
Engineering and Computing (ADEEC) of the Faculty of Science & Technology of the University
of Algarve invites you to participate in the Sixth Portuguese Conference on Biomedical
Engineering in Faro, on 11-12 June 2001.
Papers are requested on recent developments, trends and applications in Biomedical
Engineering. Attention will be focused on, but not limited to: Biomaterials, Biomechanics,
Biomedical Instrumentation, Biomedical Signal Processing, Cardiopulmonary and Respiratory
Science and Engineering, Cardiovascular Science and Engineering, Cell and Tissue
Engineering, Computer-Aided Engineering, Diagnostic Physics Imaging, Digital and Medical
Imaging (PACS, CT, MRI and CR), Drug Delivery and Pharmacokinetics, Electromagnetic
Interactions, Magnetic Resonance (MRI, MRS and MRA), Medical Informatics and Biomedical
Information Technology, Neural Engineering, Nuclear Medicine and Imaging, Physiological
Modelling, Quality Assurance, Rehabilitation Engineering, Telemedicine, Ultrasound,
X-ray applications.
Prospective authors should submit an abstract (2 pages) before 20 February 2001,
summarising the work to be presented, including the title, author(s) name(s) and
affiliation(s); the contact author should be identified by providing his/her mail
address, telephone and fax numbers, and email address. All submitted abstracts will be
considered for oral or poster presentation (according to the criteria of the Scientific
Committee), unless clearly specified by one of the following sentences, to be included
after the paper title: "Poster only" or "Oral presentation only".
Authors of accepted abstracts for BioEng'2001 will be requested to produce a final paper
(6 pages maximum). The final papers will be printed in a Proceedings book, available to
all registered participants, at the conference.
The language of the conference will be English; it will include invited lectures, by
leading experts in the field, oral and poster presentations, an industrial exhibition,
and an attractive social program.
