BioEng’2000

The Department of Biophysics and Biomathematics of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra, is organising the 5th Portuguese Conference on Biomedical Engineering in Coimbra, to be held from 26-27 May 2000. The scope of the conference is to provide a forum for the exchange of information on recent developments, trends and applications in biomedical engineering. Contributions on the following areas are invited:

• Biomaterials
• Signal and image processing
• Biomedical instrumentation
• Medical and hospital information systems
• Telemedicine
• Rehabilitation engineering
• Modeling and simulation
• PACS

This list is given as a guide and should not be viewed as restrictive. Additionally, three internationally recognised experts will give advanced courses on

• Dental biomechanics and biomaterials
• Optics and biomaterials in ophthalmology
• Equilibrium and biomaterials in orthopaedics

Invitation to participate

One-page-long abstracts of the communications must be sent by 1 February 2000 either by email or ordinary mail as follows:

• Email the abstract as an attachment to bioe2000@ci.uc.pt. Only documents in MS Word for Windows can be accepted.
• Mail two printed copies of the abstract (laser printer quality only) to the BioEng'2000 Congress Office.
