On behalf of the organisers of the 1st International IEEE EMBS Summer School on Applications of ICT in Biomedicine - ICTSS02, to be held in the International Center of Croatian Universities in Dubrovnik, it is our pleasure to invite you to enjoy the lectures of distinguished scholars and to take part in discussions and brain storming on advanced applications of information and communication technologies in biomedicine. The Summer School comprises a variety of topics within the applications of information and communication technology in biomedicine. The sessions will provide many opportunities for in-depth discussion of issues at the forefront of research, development and professional issues. Distinguished scholars will present their views on the field. Besides the lectures, Student Poster Sessions will be organised. The aim of the Student Poster Session is to provide students with an opportunity to present their own work for a professional audience, thereby getting informed feedback on their own results.

Dubrovnik is probably the most famous city and the best visited venue in Croatia, a real jewel of the Adriatic Sea. It has preserved the beauty of a medieval town and its outstanding cultural and historical monuments have earned it a place on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The surroundings of Dubrovnik are famous for their untouched Mediterranean nature and crystal clear sea.
DETAILS:
The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society has organised a series of Summer Schools with the aim of providing the participants with state-of-the-art knowledge on different fields of biomedical engineering. This Summer School brings together experts in the area of medical information and communication systems including: mobile systems, information processing, decision-making, web applications and data security. They will point out recent developments in their field of expertise as well as their applications in medicine and biology. The presentations will be illustrated by practical examples and in some cases followed up by use of project oriented discussions in smaller student groups.
REGISTRATION:
ICTSS02 will be open to all advanced level students in ICT and its application to biomedicine. You can register for the Summer School by filling out the registration form. You can either fill it out on-line or send the completed registration form by e-mail, fax or regular mail to the Summer School Secretariat.
Before filling the form, please have a look at the information on registration fee, accommodation and travel.
As part of the registration process for those students paying by credit transfer, a copy of the receipt of the bank transfer has to be sent by fax or regular mail to the Summer School Secretariat. This receipt must reach the Secretariat before June 3rd, 2002.
The following information refers to the items on the registration form.
Step 1. Personal data
Complete with your name, regular address and e-mail in capitals, clearly. These data are compulsory and your application cannot be accepted unless you have filled in all the relevant data. We ensure the confidentiality of these data. Personal information will be used for administrative processes only.
The registration fee for ICTSS02 is 1250 USD. The registration fee covers the participation to ICTSS02 and the Summer School publications (CD-ROM). Expenses for accommodation, meals, social activities and transfers Dubrovnik Airport (Cilipi) - hotels (and return) are included. Traveling expenses to/from Dubrovnik are not included into the registration fee. Payment of the registration fee is due in advance and has to be remitted to the Summer School account by June 3rd, 2002. The organisers of ICTSS02 do not assume any responsibility or any liability for persons participating in the meeting.
Step 3. Method of payment
There are a number of options to pay the registration fee. Pay attention to the following points:
Bank transfer If paying by BANK TRANSFER, make the registration fee payable to: MINISTARSTVO FINANCIJA; FER; PRIVREDNA BANKA ZAGREB, RACKOGA 6 Account number: 7020-840-9182800-132344-612 Swift PBZGHR2X You should be aware that the banks might charge a small amount for the money transfer. Please make sure that the amount which is transferred to the Summer School account corresponds to the fee stated above. In case the received amount does not cover the registration fee completely, you will be charged the difference upon your arrival. Please do not forget to send a copy of money transfer receipt to the Summer School Secretariat by June 3rd at the latest.
Credit cards If paying by a credit card, please, fill the corresponding part of the Registration Form, sign it and send it by fax or regular mail to the Summer School Secretariat. You will be charged an amount corresponding to the registration fee in Croatian Kunas (HRK). Small differences in respect to announced registration fee may occur due to the variations in USD / HRK exchange rates.
Cancellations For cancellations received before July 5th, 2002, you will be charged 100 USD to cover the administrative costs. For cancellations received after July 5th, 2002, you will be charged 30% of the registration fee. For cancellations received after July 19th, 2002, you will be charged 50% of the registration fee. Refunds will be dealt after the event.

The hotel reservations are valid in the period from August 4, 2002 till August 10, 2002 (6 nights) for registered participants of ICTSS02. In case you would like to prolong the period of your stay in Dubrovnik, please, contact the Summer School Secretariat for additional information. A limited number of beds for accompanying persons will be available upon request.
Official carrier
Croatia Airlines is the official carrier. The participants of the ICTSS'02 and accompanying person are eligible to 25% discount of applicable published fare on Croatia Airlines' international flights to Dubrovnik. The discount is applicable only where CA is operating carrier. For discounted airfares, the participants have to contact their nearest Croatia Airlines office. To obtain the discounted fares the participants have to fill in the voucher (www.croatiaairlines.hr -> at your service -> official carrier -> voucher) and follow the instructions of Croatia Airlines.
